First editions, first printings, comprising all three binding variants. Octavo. 221pp. Publisher’s black ‘Excelin’ cloth-effect paper-covered boards, with titles blocked to the spines in bronze, silver and gold ‘Nuvap’ foil respectively, and patterned green endpapers. Each copy is complete with the original Richard Chopping-designed dust wrapper, correctly priced at 18s net to the front flap.

The books and wrappers are very good, with some toning, minor spotting and light wear. All three dust wrappers remain unclipped. Small chip to the head of the ‘gold’ variant

An unusual set of the three otherwise identical binding variants, formerly the bibliographer’s copies. The silver-lettered issue is particularly scarce, encountered only “very occasionally” according to Gilbert.
