H.E. Bates – The Daffodil Sky – First US Edition 1956
£30.00
First edition, first US printing of The Daffodil Sky by H. E. Bates, published by Little, Brown and Company, Boston in 1956 (although not stated). This is a very good copy, the yellow cloth bound boards with some bumping to the head and foot of the spine with slight discolouration, the text blocks with minor browning and spotting, free from internal inscriptions, internally some browning to the pages. The very good unclipped wrapper with fading to the spine, chips to the head and foot of the spine and to the knuckles of the front and rear flap folds, some minor tears to the upper and lower edge of the front panel, with former retailers price ticket on front flap. Jacket designed by Samuel H. Bryant.
The Daffodil Sky by H.E. Bates is a poignant tale set in rural England, capturing the beauty of nature and the complexities of human emotions. Through vivid descriptions and lyrical prose, Bates explores themes of love, loss and the passage of time. The story follows a young couple’s journey as they navigate the challenges of life and find solace in fleeting moments of happiness.
