£60.00

First edition, first printing. Published by The Bodley Head in London, 1978. This is a very good copy. The dust wrapper, though toned throughout, has not been price clipped and shows the original £4.50 net price. The spine is sunned and there is wear to the tips of the spine. The boards are free from notable wear and the text blocks are clean throughout. This is the second issue, showing not the Sir Thomas Bodley on the full title page, but the square ‘BH’. This copy is free from previous owners ink and is in very good condition.

Maurice Castle is an aging bureaucrat in the British MI6 secret service. Married to a black South African woman with whom he fell in love during his previous stint in apartheid South Africa, he now lives a quiet life in the suburbs and looks forward to retirement.
