A first edition, first printing published by A and C Black in 1986. A fine book SIGNED and INSCRIBED to Ian, without whose help, advice/and valued assistance the task/of writing about airguns would/have been that much more/ difficult!/Geoffrey Boothroyd/Glasgow 1989/. In a near fine unclipped wrapper. Included are five loose photos of author’s collection and a letter from author to the Shooting Times. On the rear of the letter Boothroyd has drawn a plan of his gun room. A look into the lives and skilled work of the gunsmiths who helped develop the British shotgun during the Victorian and Edwardian eras. Geoffrey Boothroyd was the inspiration for Ian Fleming’s ‘Q’ character and whose gun was used by Richard Chopping as a model for the dust wrapper design for ‘From Russia With Love’.
