Evelyn Waugh – Work Suspended – First Edition 1948 – John Davis Knatchbull Lloyd’s Copy
£250.00
First edition, first printing. Published by Chapman & Hall in London, 1948. This is a very good (or better) copy. The dust wrapper is foxed to the front and rear panels and the corners are bumped and nicked. The spine tips are with small closed tears, and the spine itself is slightly toned. It has been price clipped. The text blocks are bright and white, mostly free from foxing. The end papers are beautifully marbled in a deep blue, carrying the Ex-Libris label of John Davies Knatchbull Lloyd F. S. A, a notable figure in the memoirs of Evelyn Waugh and Anthony Powell. This ownership label makes it a fine copy with a fine, gilt provenance. Very good in condition.
A collection of stories, which encompass much of the social milieu of the twentieth century.
