First edition, first printing. Published by Hodder & Stoughton in London, 1945. Without the dust wrapper. The pastel blue buckram has some staining to the front panel, spine and rear. There is a slight lean and the spine tips are so slightly bumped. The corners are also slightly bumped. The text blocks are markedly clean and free from foxing, though slightly worn in places. There is a small previous owner’s inscription on the preliminary end paper, signed “To Roger […] Christmas 1944’. Overall, though lacking the dust wrapper, this is a clean example of a scarce title.
