A first edition, first printing of The History of the Pianoforte by Edgar Brinsmead, published by Novello, Ewer & Co, London in 1879. A good book INSCRIBED and dated in black ink by the author to the front free end paper, additionally ‘120 BB’ written in black ink to the front free end paper, ghosting to the half-title page, a damp-stained tissue guard to the frontispiece, substantial chipping losses to the spine tips, rubbing and bumping to extremities and corners, tarnished gilt titling to the spine, damp-staining to the rear board and damp-staining internally. With typed letter dated November 1939 from the secretary of The Tobias Matthay Pianoforte School.
