Dylan Thomas – Under Milk Wood – First Edition 1954
£485.00
A first edition, first printing published by Dent in 1954. A very good book with a touch of spotting to the top page edges – small name and date to the front pastedown. In a very good unclipped wrapper with chipping to the spine tips and corners. A very nice copy.
Originally a 1954 radio drama by Welsh poet Dylan Thomas, commissioned by the BBC and later adapted for the stage. A film version, Under Milk Wood directed by Andrew Sinclair, was released in 1972, and another adaptation of the play, directed by Pip Broughton, was staged for television for the 60th anniversary in 2014.
An omniscient narrator invites the audience to listen to the dreams and innermost thoughts of the inhabitants of the fictional small Welsh fishing village, Llareggub, (buggerall spelt backwards).
