Charles Bronson, born Michael Gordon Peterson in 1952, is one of Britain’s most notorious prisoners, known for his violent behaviour and long-term solitary confinement. Initially jailed for robbery in 1974, his sentence extended due to numerous violent attacks on inmates and guards, as well as hostage situations. Bronson, who later adopted the name of the American actor, has spent over 45 years in prison, mostly in isolation. Despite his reputation, he has become a controversial figure, creating art and writing books while incarcerated. His story was depicted in the 2008 film Bronson, starring Tom Hardy.
