First edition, first printing. Published by W. & R. Chambers Ltd. in London, 1941. This is a near fine copy. The dust wrapper is finely illustrated and has some very light marking to the bottom right-hand corner of the front panel. There are slight handling marks to the rear and a mild crease down the centre of the spine. It has not been price clipped and shows the original 8/- net price. The boards, in the publishers grey buckram, are without notable chips and marks though mildly toned/browned at the spine. The text blocks are amazingly bright and clean throughout. This copy is free from previous owners ink and is, overall, in near fine condition.
Three ‘sketches’ of children, evacuated in wartime Britain to a farm in the Highlands.
