First edition, first printing. Published by The Bodley Head in London, 1956. This is a very good copy. The dust wrapper features a nice, stark image of a hook. The top and tail edges are worn and the spine is faded. There are some creases to the laminate but it has not been price clipped, showing the original 15s net price. The boards are free from notable chips and marks. There is slight toning and foxing to the front fly. The text blocks are foxed at the top and side edges. This copy is free from previous owners ink and is, overall, in very good condition.
Building on his Academy Award-winning screenplay of the classic film, Budd Schulberg’s On the Waterfront is the story of ex-prizefighter Terry Malloy’s valiant stand against corruption on the New Jersey docks.
