A first edition, first printing published by Macgibbon Kee in 1966. A very good+ copy without inscriptions, with some creasing to a number of pages visible to the page edge. In a very good unclipped wrapper (designed by Colin O’Brien) with some rubbing to the edges and lightly faded to the spine. A very pleasing copy.

In addition to the novella, “Alfie” was adapted into a successful stage play and a 1966 film starring Michael Caine in the titular role. The film adaptation further increased the novella’s popularity and cemented its place in popular culture.
Bill Naughton’s “Alfie” remains a notable work in British literature and entertainment, reflecting the social and cultural shifts of the 1960s.
