A first edition, first printing published by Collins in 1960. A fine book without inscriptions. In a near fine wrapper with just a touch of rubbing to the corners and to the spine tips. Accompanied by three letters from the author (with original envelopes). Garner’s script is superb, each of the three letters are works of art on their own. One letter reads, “Dear Victoria, I thought you might like to know that the sequel to ‘The Weirdstone of Brisingamen’ is being published by Collin s on 29 August. It’s called ‘The Moon of Gomrath’: I hope you’ll read it. Yours sincerely, Alan Garner.” The other two letters discuss the recipient’s kindness in writing to an author and a canoe journey made by Garner. All letters are dated (1961) and include the author’s address. The author’s first work of fantasy fiction.
