Text to front and spine still vibrant. A collection of 6 stories. A near fine book with Edward Wassermann’s bookplate to the front pastedown. Inscribed to him by Maugham on the free endpaper – “For/Edward Wassermann/thanking him for/wishing than my (?) have written in this book/W. Somerset Maugham/. Some rubbing to the edges and corners. In the supplied unclipped wrapper with 7/6 to the spine as called for. Small rough patch to the front panel and a chipping and associated chipping to the spine tips and corners.
Maugham’s eighth novel.
Edward Wassermann was a banker and philanthropist, immortalised by Salvador Dali in a portrait of 1936.
