Christianna Brand – Green For Danger – First Edition 1945
£750.00
A first edition, first printing of Green for Danger by Christianna Brand, published by The Bodley Head in 1945. A very good book with gift inscription to the front free end paper in black ink, in original green cloth bound covers, the front panel with ghosting from wrapper, the upper and lower edges faded, with pushing to the foot and head of the spine, the text block browning with slight spotting. In a very good unclipped wrapper with some browning to the spine and rear panel, chipping to the knuckles of the front and rear flap folds, chipping to the head and foot of the spine, with internally restored open tear to the head of the spine. Rare.
Green for Danger by Christianna Brand is a classic whodunit set in a WWII British military hospital. After a patient dies mysteriously during surgery, Inspector Cockrill is called in to investigate. As more deaths follow, Cockrill must navigate a web of secrets among the medical staff. With its intricate plot, well-developed characters and atmospheric tension, the novel delivers a compelling mix of suspense and mystery, showcasing Brand’s mastery of the genre.
