Frank Richards – Billy Bunter of Greyfriars School – First Edition 1947
£225.00
First edition, first printing of Billy Bunter of Greyfriars School by Frank Richards, published by Charles Skilton, London in 1947. Illustrated with a colour frontispiece and further black and white illustrations by R.J. MacDonald. A very good book, in original publisher’s grey patterned paper covered boards with blue titles to the front board and spine, slight pushing to the corners, bumping to spine tips, spine a little cocked, browning to the text block and pages throughout. The unclipped wrapper with chipping to upper and lower edges, an open tear to the lower edge of the front panel, chipping to the head and foot of the spine and to the knuckles of the front and rear flap folds, crease to the rear flap fold, browning to the rear panel and internally. The first Billy Bunter book.
Billy Bunter at Greyfriars School by Frank Richards follows the adventures of the mischievous and gluttonous schoolboy Billy Bunter. Set in the fictional Greyfriars School, the series depicts Bunter’s schemes to satisfy his insatiable appetite, often leading to comical situations and trouble. Despite his laziness and greed, Bunter’s antics are endearing, highlighting themes of friendship and resilience amidst the challenges of school life. The stories are beloved for their humour and nostalgic charm.
