A first edition, first printing of I Live Under A Black Sun by Edith Sitwell, published by Gollancz in 1937. Edith Sitwell’s only novel. A very good book with internals free from inscriptions, titles in gilt beautifully intact, a little pushing to the head and foot of the spine, browning to the top edge of the text block, spotting to the fore-edge and bottom edge text block and further spotting to the initial first pages. In a good wrapper with browning to the front panel, spine and rear panel, chips to the knuckles of the front and rear folds, chips to the head and foot of the spine with small tear hole in the spine and tear at the foot, with tear on top edge of rear panel with internal minor tape restoration, some internal browning. A fictionalised biography of the life of Jonathan Swift, with a printed dedication to John Sparrow. Only 4,350 copies were printed. Unusual to find in the rare dust wrapper without the usual large losses.
