A first edition, first printing published by Cape in 1929. first state (with‘serious’ spelt ‘seriosu’ to p.66). A near fine book with one name and date to the front endpaper (bookplate to the rear pastedown). The binding tight and square binding in sharp pink cloth faded to the backstrip; bright gilt; rubbed a little to the spine tips, but very crisp and clean. In a very good unclipped wrapper with some browning to the spine and some very light chipping to the spine tips and corners. Rare first issue.
