A beautifully produced Folio Society edition celebrating the finest adventures of Lord Emsworth, Blandings Castle and one of the greatest comic creations in English literature. Few writers have matched P. G. Wodehouse’s effortless wit, and nowhere is his genius more apparent than amongst the eccentric inhabitants of Blandings Castle. These six novels capture Wodehouse at the height of his powers, combining unforgettable characters with the immaculate prose and perfectly judged humour that have delighted readers for generations.
The set comprises Summer Lightning and Heavy Weather in the 2009 second Folio printings, with the remaining four volumes from the first Folio printing of 2004. All six volumes remain in very good condition, with bright bindings, clean interiors and sound, tight text blocks. Each volume exhibits a slight natural lean to the binding together with light rubbing to the spine ends and corners, while a small number show the beginnings of light foxing to the upper edge. Uncle Fred in the Springtime has a more noticeable bump to the lower front corner, resulting in a gentle crease affecting the corner of several leaves, though remaining an attractive and entirely serviceable copy.
The original slipcase remains structurally sound, displaying rubbing and light marking commensurate with use, together with splitting along the lower rear joint and minor wear to the extremities.
