The Second World War 6 vols., FIRST EDITIONS, original cloth, dust-jackets (not price-clipped), London: Cassell, 1948–1954; together with an attractive framed display incorporating authentic signatures of Sir Winston Churchill and Clementine Churchill, mounted beneath a contemporary black-and-white portrait, approximately 68 × 47cm, accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity from an AFTAL-approved dealer.

Churchill’s monumental account of the conflict he did so much to shape remains one of the defining historical works of the twentieth century. Written with the authority of a wartime Prime Minister and the literary skill that would earn him the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1953, ’The Second World War’ is both an indispensable military history and a deeply personal memoir of Britain’s darkest and finest hours. No other participant in the conflict occupied such a commanding position, and few have left so compelling a record.

The six volumes are very good condition, with lightly spotted, square text blocks and the original unclipped dust-jackets well preserved. One volume has a small name. Some shelf wear are entirely commensurate with age, resulting in an increasingly difficult set to acquire in such well-preserved condition.

Accompanying the books is an impressive framed display bearing authentic signatures of both ‘Winston Churchill’ and his devoted wife, ‘Clementine Churchill’, elegantly mounted beneath a portrait photograph. Authenticated by an AFTAL-approved dealer, the display provides a fitting companion to Churchill’s greatest literary achievement and transforms the set into an outstanding exhibition piece.

A handsome and highly collectable first edition set, enhanced by the inclusion of authentic Churchill signatures, offering an exceptional tribute to Britain’s greatest wartime leader and one of the most influential figures of the twentieth century.
